Description

Sweet, salty, and irresistibly crunchy, these bite-size squares combine molten caramel and maple syrup with crackling bacon and toasted pecans. Each morsel offers a perfect balance of buttery richness and smoky crunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup, stirring until the mixture bubbles.
  4. Boil the caramel for 2 minutes, then remove from heat and carefully pour it over the crackers.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes until the caramel is bubbling.
  6. Evenly sprinkle chopped bacon and pecans over the top and return to the oven for 5 more minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with sea salt.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

  • Ensure bacon is cooked until very crisp to prevent sogginess in the bites.
  • Store cooled bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
  • For a chocolate twist, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the cooled bites.
