Description

Each bite of this sandwich offers a crackly exterior giving way to molten cheddar, silky avocado, and tart tomato, all seasoned with a hint of salt and pepper. Quick to make and utterly comforting.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 whole ripe avocado
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place one bread slice buttered side down in the skillet.
  4. Arrange one slice of cheese on the bread, then top with tomato slices, avocado slices, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the second slice of cheese on top of the avocado, then cover with the second bread slice buttered side up.
  6. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  8. Remove from the skillet, let rest for a minute, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use day-old or slightly stale bread for a crispier texture.
  • Try substituting cheddar with Swiss or mozzarella cheese for variation.
  • Add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes for extra flavor.
  • Serve hot to enjoy the gooey melted cheese.
